Big Pine, the first lake

With the start of summer came a lovely day.  It was warm enough that I’d feel sweat but washed away with cool breeze.  I had coffee and donuts for breakfast 7am in the morning. I felt it was too early to hike.  I needed to eat more. I thought about it for a second, but I figured it was just reaction of not doing the hike.  I didn’t know how much I had to eat in order to hike until get to the point that I’d like to be up there. I was a very very very beginner hiker.

I got to the parking lot near by the trailhead at 8 o’clock.  I could see the sign from distance said “Big Pine Creek trail” which pointed to South Fork trail.  The trail started out steep with switchbacks as soon as I passed the sign. The first hour of the hike to first falls was entirely in the sun.  I finished a bottle of water, I was hungry already. I could hear my heartbeat, and I felt sweating on my forehead. After reaching the cabin however, the trail meandered along the creek, in and out of aspen and pine forests.

I couldn’t wait any longer.  I wanted to sit down and eat everything I have.  But, I couldn’t do it. I was really up to the hike, and I needed to finish it as I planned.  One more step toward to out of forests, suddenly trees were gone, and I started to see something on the left side of trail.  I stopped for a while, and I started to walk towards to the view. I thought that was it. About seven steps with my feets, I was standing on the rock, and saw the view of the first lake.  It was beautiful. I started to cry, just happy that I got there, and saw the lake with my own eye. It was such beautiful thing on earth.
